Identity Verification Policy

How identity checks support accountability, fraud prevention and platform integrity.

Effective

Official Kumpanio policy

Our Commitment

Trust begins with knowing who is on the platform.

Kumpanio operates a multi-layer identity verification framework designed to help maintain a safe, accountable, and trusted community. Identity verification helps reduce fraud, prevent impersonation, strengthen platform integrity, and support safer experiences for everyone using our services.

Identity verification is one of several Trust & Safety measures employed by Kumpanio. While verification helps establish confidence that an individual is who they claim to be, it does not guarantee a person's character, conduct, intentions, or future behaviour.

Who Must Complete Verification?

Identity verification requirements vary depending on the type of account, services being accessed, and the level of platform risk.

Companions

All companions must successfully complete Kumpanio's identity verification process before becoming eligible to receive or accept booking requests.

Users

Users may be required to verify their identity before accessing certain features, completing bookings, processing payments, receiving refunds, participating in promotions, or whenever additional verification is reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, Trust & Safety, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, or operational purposes.

Kumpanio reserves the right to request identity verification from any account at any time.

Verification Approval

Submitting identity verification information does not create any right to verification, account approval, platform access, or continued use of Kumpanio.

Verification status is granted, maintained, suspended, withdrawn, or revoked at Kumpanio's discretion, subject to applicable law, our Terms and Conditions, Trust & Safety policies, and operational requirements.

Information We May Collect

Depending on the verification required, Kumpanio or its authorised verification partners may request information including, but not limited to:

  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Government-issued identity document
  • Selfie or live facial verification
  • Address information, where required
  • Additional information reasonably necessary for identity verification, fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, or platform security

Verification requirements may evolve over time as our services, technology, and Trust & Safety systems develop.

Verification Process

Our verification process may include one or more of the following:

  • Mobile number verification
  • Email verification
  • Government-issued identity document verification (which may include electronic verification methods where legally permitted)
  • Selfie or liveness verification
  • Automated document authenticity checks
  • Manual review by authorised personnel
  • Duplicate account detection
  • Fraud prevention screening
  • Device and account integrity checks
  • Risk-based account assessment

Where our Trust & Safety systems identify elevated risk, unusual activity, or inconsistencies, additional verification or manual review may be required before an account is approved or permitted to continue using certain platform features.

Ongoing Verification

Identity verification is not always a one-time process.

To help maintain platform integrity, Kumpanio may request renewed or additional verification where:

  • Account information changes significantly
  • Identity documents expire
  • Suspicious or unusual activity is detected
  • Fraud indicators are identified
  • Regulatory requirements change
  • Community reports require additional investigation
  • Trust & Safety systems identify elevated risk
  • Additional verification is reasonably necessary to protect the platform or its users

Failure to complete requested verification within the required timeframe may result in temporary restrictions, suspension, cancellation of bookings, or removal of access to certain platform features.

Accuracy of Information

You are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted during verification is accurate, complete, authentic, and up to date.

Providing false, misleading, forged, altered, stolen, incomplete, or fraudulent information may result in:

  • Rejection of verification
  • Cancellation of pending bookings
  • Temporary or permanent account suspension
  • Revocation of verified status
  • Permanent removal from the platform
  • Reporting to competent authorities where required by law

Any losses, claims, investigations, enforcement actions, penalties, or legal consequences arising from false or fraudulent identity information shall remain the responsibility of the individual who submitted such information.

Privacy and Security

Identity verification information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws relating to data protection, electronic records, identity verification, and lawful requests from competent authorities.

Verification information is collected solely for legitimate purposes, including:

  • Identity verification
  • Fraud prevention
  • Platform security
  • Trust & Safety operations
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Dispute resolution
  • Enforcement of our Terms and Policies

Access to verification information is restricted to authorised personnel and trusted service providers who require such information to perform their authorised responsibilities.

Third-Party Verification Providers

Kumpanio may engage trusted third-party service providers to perform identity verification, document authentication, fraud screening, liveness verification, or related compliance services.

Such providers process information in accordance with applicable contractual obligations, privacy requirements, and legal standards.

Where identity verification is performed by an authorised third-party provider, Kumpanio may rely, in whole or in part, on the verification results provided by that provider. Kumpanio is not responsible for delays, technical failures, or verification errors arising solely from third-party systems beyond its reasonable control.

Failed or Incomplete Verification

Verification may be unsuccessful if:

  • Information is inaccurate or inconsistent
  • Identity documents cannot be authenticated
  • Documents are expired, altered, damaged, or illegible
  • Required verification steps are not completed
  • Fraud indicators are detected
  • Verification cannot be reasonably completed
  • Platform policies or applicable legal requirements are not satisfied

Where appropriate, Kumpanio may permit users to resubmit information or complete additional verification steps.

Verification approval remains at Kumpanio's sole discretion.

Verification status may subsequently be suspended, withdrawn, or revoked if previously verified information becomes inaccurate, cannot be validated, appears fraudulent, or no longer satisfies Kumpanio's Trust & Safety requirements.

Identity Misuse

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Creating an account using another person's identity
  • Using forged, altered, manipulated, or stolen identity documents
  • Impersonating another individual
  • Creating duplicate accounts to bypass platform restrictions
  • Circumventing verification requirements
  • Assisting another person in evading verification
  • Selling, transferring, renting, or sharing verified accounts
  • Attempting to manipulate or interfere with the verification process

Any attempt to bypass identity verification through alternate accounts, borrowed identities, forged documentation, or other deceptive practices may result in the restriction or removal of all associated accounts.

Serious violations may also be referred to competent law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required or permitted by law.

Retention of Verification Information

Verification records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil legal, regulatory, fraud prevention, operational, audit, dispute resolution, or Trust & Safety purposes.

After the applicable retention period, verification information will be securely deleted, anonymised, or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

Technology-Assisted Verification

Kumpanio combines technology-assisted verification, fraud detection systems, behavioural risk signals, account integrity monitoring, and human review to help maintain the integrity of the platform.

Automated systems may identify inconsistencies, elevated-risk activity, suspicious behavioural patterns, or potential policy violations and may trigger additional verification, temporary account restrictions, or manual review.

Where appropriate, significant Trust & Safety decisions are supported by human assessment based on the information reasonably available at the time.

Changes to this Policy Kumpanio may modify this Identity Verification Policy from time to time to reflect changes in applicable law, regulatory requirements, technology, platform operations, or Trust & Safety practices.

The most current version will always be published on our website and will become effective from the date indicated at the top of this Policy.

Continued use of the platform after the updated Policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
